Neurodiverse yoga

I’ve started running specialist neurodiverse yoga sessions. The yoga is designed to be beneficial to autistic and other neurodiverse people. I am autistic myself and I have incorporated elements such as breath work and postures to aid with some of the issues and challenges people with neurological difference can face.

The areas yoga can help neurodiverse people with include sensory overload and anxiety. Yoga includes meditative elements that can help calm a busy mind. The sessions are calm, light-and music-free and offer an opportunity to take a break from excess sensory input. Yoga classes are also a great way to relax from social masking and take part in a parallel group movement activity.

Neurodiversity refers to people with a neurological developmental difference or whos brains are ‘wired’ differently. This includes autism, which affects around 1% of the population, as well as dyspraxia, attention deficit disorder, Tourettes etc. If you’d like to find out more I’ve written on LinkedIn about 10 things you probably didnt know about autism.

The classes are monthly on Sunday afternoons. I also offer bookable 1-1 or family sessions. For class dates and to book a space see the Bikebuddha Yoga page on Facebook.
