There’s nothing like taking it easy on a Sunday morning. Modern life is stressful and busy and a moment of calm in all the madness can be a welcome tonic to the soul. Staying a bit longer in bed with the papers and a fry-up is most people’s idea of a Sunday treat. But the ultimate Sunday morning treat for mind, body and spirit has to be some gentle yoga.
That’s why I’ve started running Sunday morning classes at We are Wellness. The idea is to provide a relaxing and de-stressing alternative to bed-lolling. There’s still plenty of lying down – it’s just interspersed with gentle movement that sooths out the aches and pains of the week and sets the body up right for the next one.
Working our way through gnarly parts of the body with relaxing music, calming our minds with meditation and yoga breathing and sinking into lavender-scented relaxation – it’s a Sunday morning paradise. If all that doesn’t have you going ‘ooh’ and ‘ahhh’ with the feeling of a body moving as it should I’ll eat my yoga mat!
